New council homes are being developed at the site of unused offices in Radford.
The office space, which forms part of the Woodlands apartment blocks in Radford, was previously used by Nottingham City Homes staff for meeting rooms and general office areas.
The now unused offices, which are owned by Nottingham City Council, will be converted into eight council apartments, which will go to people on the council house waiting list.
There will be six two-bedroom flats and two one-bedroom flats and residents will be able to move in by late summer.
Nottingham City Homes, which is carrying out the works, and will manage the flats on behalf of the council.
Workers are now on-site as work to create the new homes has begun.
Councillor Linda Woodings, portfolio holder for planning, housing and heritage, said: “Due to their original construction, design and location, the offices at the Woodlands in Radford are no longer fit for purpose as offices.
“Now that Nottingham City Homes have relocated services at the buildings to their Harvey Road site, this unused office space can be brought back into use as much needed residential accommodation for affordable rent, providing homes which will be ideal for couples, single people or small families.
“Nottingham needs a mix of different types of housing, so, being able to convert unused space like this into much-needed homes will be a welcome addition to the Radford area.”

These homes will be affordable, well designed and all the flats will have sprinklers installed, ensuring we are keeping both new and existing tenants safe.
“There is a demand for affordable rented apartments in Nottingham and we have a great opportunity here to convert this unused space for housing and create homes that residents will be proud to live in.”
