New coronavirus-related death recorded at Bristol hospital

Another coronavirus-related death has been confirmed in Bristol today (Sunday).

According to the government's latest figures, one further patient has tragically died at the University Hospitals Bristol and Weston (UHBW) trust after contracting the virus.

The trust runs both the Bristol Royal Infirmary and Weston General Hospital and sadly 153 of its Covid-19 patients have died during the pandemic.

This follows one death being recorded at the same trust yesterday, on Saturday.

North Bristol Trust, which runs Southmead Hospital, has recorded 119 patient deaths since the start of the pandemic, the most recent of which was on June 22.

Nationally, 44,819 deaths have been recorded following a daily rise of 21.

Coronavirus cases

One further case was confirmed in Bristol on Sunday.

NHS England's latest data show 1,291 patients have now tested positive for the virus.

South Gloucestershire's also reported an increase of one, bringing the district's total to 744.

Meanwhile, Bath and North East Somerset has 338 cases, which is a rise of two.

North Somerset's total remained at 912.

Nationally, 289,603 Covid-19 patients have been recorded following a daily rise of 650.
