New coronavirus cases in South Lanarkshire fell by a quarter last week.
Figures published by Public Health Scotland revealed 62 new cases of the virus between Sunday, April 25, and Saturday, May 1 – down by 25.3 per cent on the previous week.
It was the sixth week in seven that new COVID-19 cases fell - case numbers in the region are now at their lowest level since September 2020 after 0.19 cases were recorded for every 1000 residents last week.
Halfway, Hallside and Drumsagard recorded the highest number of new cases last week after nine positive tests were confirmed in the area.
However, Carluke South saw the highest rate of new cases last week at 1.18 per 1000 residents.
Following the spike in cases in Carluke over the past couple of weeks, a mobile testing unit was deployed in the town.
Across South Lanarkshire, 77 of the 82 neighbourhoods recorded fewer than three new COVID-19 cases last week – four more areas than the previous week.
Burnhill and Bankhead North (three), Carluke South (four), Little Earnock (four) and The Murray (three) were the only other neighbourhoods to record at least three new cases last week.
Burnhill and Bankhead North (0.91), Halfway, Hallside and Drumsagard (1.16), Little Earnock (0.59) and The Murray (0.84) were the only other neighbourhoods to record at least 0.59 cases for every 1000 residents.
