New coronavirus cases in double figures in Bristol

Coronavirus cases in Bristol have risen by 16.

Public Health England said it could not provide its usual daily breakdown of cases on Thursday (August 13), because of "technical difficulties".

But the latest figures were released today (Friday), showing a rise of 16 cases in Bristol since Wednesday.

There has also been an increase of one in South Gloucestershire, while there were no new cases in North Somerset and in Bath & North East Somerset (B&NES).

It leaves the total cases numbers at 1,384 in Bristol, 923 in North Somerset, 779 in South Gloucestershire and 358 in B&NES.

Seven new cases were confirmed in Bristol during the 24 hours before Monday afternoon - the city's highest daily rise in two months.

At the Bristol Royal Infirmary and Weston General Hospital, the last Covid-19 death recorded was on July 10. Their total death toll remains at 151.

The last coronavirus death at Southmead Hospital was on June 22. Its total remains at 119.

Across the UK, there have been 313,798 positive tests during the pandemic, following a rise of 1,009 in the latest daily figures.

The Government also said 41,358 people have died in the UK within 28 days of testing positive for Covid-19, as of Friday.

This up by 11 from the day before.
