New Conor McGregor footage shows devastation sink in after Khabib defeat

New footage shows Conor McGregor lying on the floor in devastation after his loss to bitter UFC rival Khabib Nurmagomedov in 2018.

McGregor has become arguably the most notable name on the UFC roster and is finally set to return this year against Michael Chandler after breaking his leg in 2021. The Irishman has formed some iconic rivalries during his time in the promotion, but none bigger than with Russian star Khabib Nurmagomedov whom he fought in 2018.

The fight sold the most pay-per-views in UFC history but it saw McGregor come up short after being submitted by his bitter foe to seemingly end their feud. A post-fight brawl was sparked between the teams, but after it was split up the Irishman returned to his dressing room dejected.

And in new teaser footage for the superstar's Netflix documentary McGregor Forever, a video shows McGregor looking dejected on the floor in a room with Dillon Danis and UFC president Dana White. And in a brief assessment of the defeat, he says: "I was beat and that’s that.”

He then lies flat on his back and stares up at the ceiling in a heartfelt moment which showed when the loss to his long-term rival began to hit home. It has been a tough period for McGregor since that day, having lost two more fights since then against Dustin Poirier.

Despite their rivalry being deemed over given Nurmagomedov retired from competing in the UFC as an undefeated champion, the pair have continued to trade verbal barbs ever since. It was initially planned after the meeting that the pair would meet in a mega second meeting, but only McGregor now remains under contract.

In a new furious rant aimed at Nurmagomedov's manager Ali Abdelaziz, the 34-year-old appeared to rule out any future meeting again with Nurmagomedov who he has accused of avoiding the rematch. He tweeted: "Hey, s**t stain on the game, I’m talking as of now it is beginning to bare fruit.

"We beat their system of fighting on TUF [The Ultimate Fighter]. It's locked down. It’s no wonder s*** pants [Nurmagomedov] scurried. There’s no competing now. The head of the style is too fat a b**** and afraid to compete again. So we win. You can’t compete with us. Watch and witness you rat b******."

Abdelaziz then hit back in defence of McGregor's rival, writing: "Javier Mendez trained Khabib to beat the s*** out of you and took your souls away. Hey one more thing before I ignore your a**. If it was not for Herb Dean on October 6 when you guys fought you would have been dead, you have to be happy you still alive you should be grateful to him he spared your life. You will always be our b****."
