New College Durham team up with Newcastle United Foundation and Consett AFC to offer top quality coaching

A County Durham college is teaming up with Newcastle United Foundation and Consett FC in a bid to offer top quality coaching.

New College Durham says the collaboration will enable them to take their Football Development Centre to the next level and offer an "amazing range of footballing opportunities".

As part of the new enterprise, each member of the Football Development Centre will receive a free Newcastle United training kit and will play matches in a Newcastle United strip.

Players will also get nine hours coaching from UEFA licensed coaches, have access to training facilities at New College and Consett AFC and play home games at Consett AFC’s Belle View Stadium to develop their football skills in a real life footballing environment.

The college say that the Elite Men's Team experience a coaching syllabus that closely follows the Newcastle United Academy.

The Football Development Centre also runs a range of additional teams providing opportunities for Women’s Football and players of all abilities.

Steve Bell, Head of School at New College Durham, said: “We are thrilled to launch this partnership with the Newcastle United Foundation and Consett AFC.

In May, the College is hosting a virtual open event where young people interested in joining can chat with coaches, find out more about the centre, ask any questions they may have and take virtual tours of the College – all from the comfort of their own home.
