New collection from Jim Thompson

Drawing inspiration from traditional Chinese cultural elements, Jim Thompson has collaborated with renowned Thai illustrator Pichaya Osothcharoenpol to host a fashion show to launch the latest collection of elegant ready-to-wear fashion apparel, which features auspicious motifs like the rabbit, flowers and trees to represent peace, patience, prudence and good fortune.

As part of the Artists in Residence project, designer Pichaya employs her unique engraving lines and contemporary digital painting techniques to achieve vibrancy and movement. In the choice of pink, blue green and yellow hues, the Jim Thompson x Pichaya Osothcharoenpol collection has more than 20 designs for both men and women and makes use of Jim Thompson's cutting-edge Easy Care technology, which eliminates the need for dry cleaning and simplifies machine washing and ironing, making it ideal for the modern age.

"We aim to bring fun and novelty to Thailand's fashion industry and each Thai artist working with us is an expert in their respective fields. Pichaya 'Nuss' Osothcharoenpol is particularly distinctive due to her background in product design, art and illustration," said Nunnapat Verojanavat, marketing director of Jim Thompson.

Highlights include mandarin shirts, wrap midi dresses with belts, maxi dresses with unique designs, culottes in a single colour, and sleeveless midi dresses with three single-colour options for mixing and matching.

"According to Chinese beliefs, rabbits represent peace, patience and prudence. Therefore, I combine these symbols with depictions of flowers and fortunate trees like pine and pomegranate trees to make patterns that will offer wearers luck and prosperity. It's like sending each Jim Thompson client a Happy New Year greeting through each product," Pichaya said.

Pichaya is renowned for her elaborate and vibrant tapestries, and she has incorporated augmented reality into her creations. Her work has been displayed at renowned art and design events, and in 2017 and 2021, she was honoured with Thailand's coveted DEmark Award.
