New coffee shop could replace old Chorley New Road off licence in Bolton

An off licence which has recently closed could be turned into a cafe.

The owner of C&M Off Licence in Chorley New Road has asked the council for permission to convert the Horwich shop into a cafe.

Planning agent Sohail Musa said the business had been struggling to compete with the neighbouring Co-op supermarket.

The Co-op invested £550,000 into the Chorley New Road store which open in 2015.

Morrisons were originally going to open on the site but pulled out after the chain experienced financial problems.

Greenhalgh’s and Subway are also based in the premises, as well as a Barnardo’s charity shop.

There is a Chinese takeaway located on the other side of the former off licence.

Town hall planners are expected to decide the outcome of the application in November.
