A new coffee shop has opened its doors inside the former Thorntons site at Liverpool ONE.
Bean, which has its headquarters and roastery in Liverpool, as well as a number of stores in the city centre, has opened on South John Street.
The new 3,000 sq ft space is home to a coffee shop and a retail space for customers to trial and buy coffee making equipment, from filters to espresso machines. It even offers coffee tastings and individual barista masterclasses.

The coffee shop serves Bean’s speciality coffees from carefully sourced beans, which the company roasts itself just a few miles away, alongside a complementary food menu which includes artisan cakes.
Sustainability is central to Bean’s ethos. It works with local suppliers and makers and uses eco-friendly options where possible such as reusable cups, recycled and compostable packaging.
Jon Whyte, managing director of Bean, said: “We are so pleased to have signed for our latest coffee shop at Liverpool ONE, which marks a debut for our new ‘coffee retail’ concept.
“Having started in Liverpool, we knew we wanted to launch this concept in the heart of the city, and look forward to opening our doors here alongside so many other superb hospitality names.”
Alison Clegg, managing director, asset management, Grosvenor Britain & Ireland, added: “The signings of these three operators furthers our strategy of delivering a vibrant mix of independent and international brands to create a unique offer for visitors.
“They also continue our history of working with local companies and entrepreneurs to help grow their businesses.”
Bean is based at 59 South John Street, L1 8BU, and is open from 8am - 8pm everyday.
