Brand new cocktail bar and restaurant BlackRuby's has moved into Frasers... And they're bringing a touch of class to Wreck The Hoose Juice.
The Scots couple behind Bristol's Beer Emporium have taken over the former Gin71 bar – bringing craft beer, seafood and bespoke cocktails with a Scottish twist to customers at the city centre department store.
One stand-out from their drinks menu is Ruby's Rew – a fusion of Buckfast, gin, lemon juice, pineapple juice, bitters and lemonade topped with a slice of lemon.
Chef Michael Elder has designed a mouth-watering menu which celebrates Scotland's national larder – from classic breakfast rolls to hearty pasta dishes.
The bar has been running while in transition, but officially opens this Thursday.
Manager Lisa Black, who runs the business with her husband Steve, tells Glasgow Live: "We'll be serving really high end champagne by the glass, a bespoke cocktail menu with using Scottish vodka, whisky and gin... We've got a Buckfast cocktail in the works too. We just got away with that.
"We're bringing in craft beer from Scottish brewers, serving it in thirds, halves, flights with three different beers. We're right in the middle of men's designer and it means guys can get a decent pint. We want to keep that element, but we're also hoping to attract younger people."
BlackRuby's food menu packs a punch too: "We've created some of our favourite dishes using local Scottish produce. Seafood, fresh oysters, burgers marinated in the beer behind the bar. We've got a really good local haddock risotto and a tagliatelle with locally sourced catch.
"We'll also be serving Scottish tapas – from scallops, burger sliders. These are perfect for people that are out in the city that don't necessarily want a huge plate. The feedback we've had has been amazing so far."
Steve, 53 and Lisa, 43, opened the Beer Emporium in Bristol in 2013, where they had been living for the last eight years.
The popular cellar bar has grown "from strength to strength" and features in The Good Beer Guide.
The pair have been eyeing Glasgow for a while and jumped at the chance to move into Frasers.
This is such a brilliant opportunity to get our name out there. We've obviously tweaked the business format a wee bit but it's the same branding we've used.
"We've been wanting to open a bar in Glasgow for years now.. And we're excited to see it finally take off!"
