New clothing shop opens in Edinburgh hoping to 'empower women through activewear'

Edinburgh is set to welcome a new 'empowering' clothing store, throwing open their doors soon.

Mardy Bum Active Club, who sell activewear for women, will be opening on April 7. The brand, which sits at 32 Marchmont Road, already has a popular online outlet.

They're hoping to 'champion women' through the 'magic of sport', with their 'responsibly made' garments. Designed and developed by Anna Cornwell, a local Pilates teacher with a background in fashion and textiles, the brand uses recycled yarns and 'safe' fabrics.

Posting to their Instagram account, Mardy Bum Active Club said: "Mardy bum active club at its core, is more than just an activewear brand.

"We champion empowering women through fun, cleverly designed activewear to connect with sport and achieve their goals. We know the magic of sport, how it can help heal both the mind and body and bring people together.

"MBAC is responsible brand, it’s important to know where our products come from and how they are made. We use lots of British manufacturers, where by we can produce small lines and have careful controls on production.

"We use recycled yarns, we buy fabric that is made in the UK and we use printing methods that are safe and have little affect. The MBAC community is central to who we are, and we’re so excited to share this next chapter with you here in Marchmont."

This will be the brands first brick and mortar store, after working in collaboration with Beira clothing in Stockbridge.
