A new skate plaza in the city will officially open tomorrow.
The Cardiff Barrage Skate Plaza is the city's first concrete skate park and covers an area of over 1,100 square metres. The plaza has been designed to replicate features from famous skating locations around the world.
Following the example of the Barcelona skate park, the new plaza is made from different materials, including concrete, brick, and granite and features 'Beijing gap jump which originated in China.
Local skateboarders in Cardiff and south Wales area have been involved throughout the design and construction process to deliver a skate park that fulfils their expectations.
The executive member for culture, leisure and sport, Nigel Howells, will open the skate park tomorrow, alongside local skateboarders and Matt Pritchard, star of MTV series Dirty Sanchez.
Councillor Nigel Howells said: "I am delighted to be officially opening the new Skate Plaza.
"I know local skateboarders have been campaigning for a new skate plaza in the city and it's fantastic that we have been able to work with them to deliver a facility that meets their requirements.
"The new Cardiff Barrage Skate Plaza gives skateboarders a dedicated area where they can enjoy their sport. I am also hopeful the new park will encourage more people of all ages to take up skateboarding, as it's a great way for people to interact and to stay healthy."
