New chief operating officer appointed at Nottingham's hospitals

Nottingham University Hospitals has appointed a new chief operating officer.

Lisa Kelly has been described as having a wealth of experience in the NHS and global healthcare.

She will be in charge of the trust which has three sites and 90 wards.

The three sites have 1,700 beds and an annual income of just under £1 billion.

It is also one of the region’s largest employers with around 16,000 members of staff.

She is currently the chief operating officer at University Hospitals of Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust and has previously worked in senior operations and general management roles at a number of Trusts, including Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children NHS Foundation Trust.

She has also worked overseas as an operational manager at University Teaching Hospital in Zambia.

She takes over from former COO Caroline Shaw who starred in the BBC Hospital documentary.

In December 2018, Ms Shaw announced she would become the CEO of the Queen Elizabeth Hospital King’s Lynn NHS Foundation Trust.

Ms Kelly will become a member of the Trust Board, Executive Team and Management Board, and will join NUH this summer.
