New charity superstore to open on Whiteladies Road

A new second-hand superstore raising money for a Bristol hospice will open on Whiteladies Road tomorrow (March 16). The shop, selling preloved clothing, homeware, and accessories, will be the 45th location for St Peter's Hospice, which has been providing care for patients across the city since 1978.

Housed in a large unit at 112-114 Whiteladies Road, formerly occupied by Boots but which has been vacant since 2020, the flagship store will see two nearby premises for St Peter's, one of which closed last month, be combined together.

The store will feature a new ‘donation station’ to allow supporters to drop things off easily. Sue Thomas from St Peter's said: "The shop is designed to appeal to people of all ages – there’s something on offer for everyone. We have ladies' fashion, accessories, vintage, childrenswear, a good section of menswear, premium brands and a value range."

John Broomhead, St Peter’s Hospice retail director, said: “The demand for our clinical services across the communities in Bristol is growing rapidly and unfortunately at the same time as significant cost increases. This means we have to look at ways we can increase our fundraising, so we are really excited at this important time to open our new store.

“We can’t wait to open our doors to new and current supporters and offer you a fantastic choice of great products at amazing prices. We are always looking for volunteers to support our team and for products to sell in our stores, so come in and meet the team. I think you will love our new store, and we look forward to welcoming you soon.”

The area is already popular with shoppers trawling for preloved items with charity shops including Sense, Sally Ann, The British Heart Foundation and Brandon, all close by.
