New chargers for electric vehicles being installed in busy Falkirk car park

New chargers for electric vehicles are being installed in a busy Falkirk car park.

Part of Williamson Street car park has been closed to the public to allow for the installation in recent days.

It follows Falkirk Council's £2.5 million Plugged in Falkirk Project which saw 100 electric vehicle charging bays built by May 2021.

According to Department for Transport (Dft) data, there were just 27 public charging devices in Falkirk at the beginning of April.

This made it the worst in Scotland and it is hoped that the new charging points will encourage electric vehicle ownership.

As part of the multi-million pound package, a two-year pilot scheme will also provide ten electric vehicles for public use.
