CCTV footage of hooded men has been released as police continue to investigate the kidnapping and murder of a Sydney grandfather
The body of elderly widower Chris Baghsarian was found after he was allegedly abducted from his Sydney home before dawn on February 13 in a case of mistaken identity.
Investigators believe Mr Baghsarian, 85, was killed at a makeshift stronghold in Dural, on Sydney's outer north, before his body was dumped on the night of February 14, a half-hour drive away in Pitt Town.
Newly released CCTV footage shows three men walking towards the Dural property on the first evening of Mr Baghsarian's kidnapping.
The men appear to be wearing hoods and face coverings and walking briskly as they approach the property along a quiet street.
Footage from the following morning shows a blue Hyundai sedan arriving at and then leaving the property.
The car was missing a hubcap on its left side.
Mr Baghsarian's remains were located on February 24 near a golf club in Pitt Town.
Gerard Anthony Andrews, 29, and Daniel Stevens, 24, were arrested the following day and charged with kidnapping and killing the 85-year-old grandfather. They remain before the courts.
Authorities believe the intended target for the abduction was a relative of Sydney businessman Dimitri Stepanyan, who lived on the same North Ryde street as the elderly man.
Police revealed they suspected the intended target was to be kidnapped with the hope of a ransom fee being paid.
The figure demanded was $50 million.
Mr Baghsarian's family described the harrowing ordeal of the kidnapping as a nightmare, remembering him as a devoted father, brother, uncle and grandfather "who would never hurt a fly".
Police are appealing for members of the public with any information to come forward.
