New care facility in West Lothian announces they are recruiting 50 new staff in the county

A new care facility in West Lothian has announced plans to recruit 50 staff.

Home Instead, based in Livingston, are taking on full and part-time workers and have already started hiring.

The care providers provide support to seniors in their own homes and are operating all across West Lothian and in Balerno.

Applicants need not necessarily have experience in the sector but must have a passion for supporting others.

Graham Stevenson (31) from Murieston, created Home Instead in October to try and provide the sort of bespoke carer service that his family has put in place for his own grandmother.

The healthcare professional studied Biomedicine and Pharmacology at Dundee University before his recent career change.

He explained: “My gran has lived in Pumpherston for all of her 95 years.

“My parents and I lived close by so we have been able to attend to her and she has been able to live at home without the need for carers coming into her home.

“My other gran in Edinburgh had to use carers and didn’t have a great experience.

“With my own background in healthcare I got speaking to people and it just seemed like there was a need for this sort of service.

“I spoke to my gran in Pumpherston about the idea. She has really high standards, and is completely resistant to the idea of care,

“I explained what we were wanting to do, go into people’s homes without uniforms and offer a service tailored to each person’s needs.

“If she hadn’t approved I wouldn’t have went forward with the idea.”
