New Cardinals DT Darius Philon has $3M cap hit in 2019

The Arizona Cardinals bolstered their defensive line with defensive tackle Darius Philon. He reportedly gets a two-year deal worth $10 million.

We have some details about how it is structured.

The information comes from Aaron Wilson.

He gets $4 million as a signing bonus and a fully-guaranteed $1 million salary in 2019.

He will count $3 million against the salary cap this year.

He is set to receive a $500,000 roster bonus on the fifth day of the 2020 year, setting up a decision about whether to keep him or cut him. If cut, he will count $2 million in dead money against the cap.

If they keep him, he will earn $4.5 million in salary, jumping his cap number to $7 million.

He also has a playing time bonus in 2019 worth $600,000 that would jump his 2020 salary by $700,000.

With the Cardinals at just under $25 million in salary cap space as of Thursday morning, according to the NFLPA website. the Cardinals still have about $22 million available space.
