NSW drivers are being asked to dob in drunk, drugged, dangerous and distracted drivers during the festive season.
The new safety campaign launched on Tuesday is designed to get the community to help crack down on the 'four Ds' to prevent crashes and fatalities over a period notorious for them.
"We know that the four Ds - drink, drug, dangerous and distracted driving are a significant contributor to deaths on our roads," Police Minister David Elliot said.
"The people of NSW have been through enough this year, we want to see everyone enjoy the Christmas and New Year periods with family without tragedy or chaos."
So far this year 280 people have died on NSW roads.
Speed was a factor in 28 per cent of fatalities, drugs in 20 per cent and alcohol in 16 per cent.
If you see or know anyone who is drink, drug, dangerous or distracted driving, report it to Crime Stoppers, Traffic and Highway Patrol Commander Assistant Commissioner Karen Webb says.
"Our message to motorists breaking the law is clear: someone is watching you now and you will get caught," she said.
The campaign is the first time police have actively asked the public to report these crimes.
However, Assistant Commissioner Webb has urged drivers to consider their own safety first.
Use a passenger to record the details of the incident, including the driver's registration and if possible, keep dashcam vision.
Only call Triple Zero where there is a threat to life or someone's safety, and only through a passenger, hands-free, or after pulling over somewhere safe.
