New call centre jobs up for grabs in Carlton as remote shopping demand soars

A Nottingham call centre company is growing and has created 32 new jobs during the pandemic.

Mpl Contact, based in Carlton is a provider is a 24/7 contact centre provider handling calls from client customers.

Clients are mostly catalogue companies that have seen a massive increase of interest during the pandemic, as customers look to shop from home.

To deal with the overflow of calls, Mpl Contact, which is owned by Nottingham entrepreneurs Peter Newbold and Paul Macildowie, is on hand to deal with requests.

The sector is seeing a record 530 percent volume increase in sales since people have been restricted from shopping in stores and are still not ready to venture out.

This, combined with the winning of several large new clients has driven a 35 percent increase in employees being recruited at Mpl.

A spokesman for the firm said Mpl was able to react quickly to the initial lockdown, with their agents being able to work from home, and are now reopening the contact centre in Carlton to allow for a mix of home and office working.

The 32 new jobs have been created due to the increased demand.

Roles up for grabs are a combination of office and home working jobs.

The roles are mostly full time with a few part time options, and cover a range of hours as the operation is 24/7.

Mpl has confirmed these are permanent positions and are looking for aptitude and approach to the positions rather than contact centre experience.

Staff are paid an hourly rate with a policy to pay above the National living wage, currently at £8.72 per hour.

Paul Macildowie, CEO and owner said: “We are delighted to be able to create jobs for the community during these difficult times.

"Our business goes from strength to strength as a result of the passion and skills of our employees, and the faith our clients have in our ability to support them during growth, and we expect this to continue.”
