New cake and dessert shop set to be created in Hucknall

A new cake shop could be opening in a Nottinghamshire town.

An application has been submitted to Ashfield District Council to create a cake and desserts outlet at 130 Watnall Road, Hucknall.

If accepted, the building would change from a residential property to a 'retail outlet of cakes and desserts'.

It would open daily between midday and 11.30pm.

Nottinghamshire County Council wrote in a document on the application: "The site was previously a convenience store, and then a change of use to flats. This is the use of the front part of the original shop to sell cakes and desserts.

"A precedent has been set by its original use. There is ample parking to the rear adjacent to the doctor's surgery. We would not wish to raise objection to the proposal."

A decision on the application is likely by April 27 2021.
