New café The Pie Port set to open on the Albert Dock this week

The Royal Albert Dock welcomes a brand new restaurant this month and it's all about pies.

Family-run independent The Pie Port will open its doors on Wednesday, July 17 with an entire menu dedicated to freshly-baked pies.

The Pie Port, which will be located inside the Anchor Courtyard, is owned by husband and wife Jon and Sarah Wills, who also own the hugely popular Satterthwaites Bakery in Crosby .

The café will serve a range of traditional and non-traditional pies, from steak and ale and scouse pies to pork and chorizo and pork and black pudding pies - and they come with mash and gravy.

The Pie Port will offer casual dining options, and will even give diners the opportunity to take food away.

Jon Wills, co-owner of The Pie Port, said: “As someone who’s been visiting the Dock since I was a young boy, it’s amazing to be opening The Pie Port here at such a well-known location.

“So many great family-run independents have launched at the Albert Dock recently, and it’s very exciting to be part of the changes taking place".
