New Burger King drive-thru and restaurant planned for Bridgend retail park

A new Burger King restaurant with a drive-thru could be coming to Bridgend.

Council officers are assessing plans for a new fast food set-up on land at at Wickes car park, Cowbridge Road, Waterton, Bridgend.

Triple Jersey Limited wants to build a two-storey restaurant and drive-thru with a covered terrace, parking and landscaping works near Waterton Retail Park.

If approved, it is expected the restaurant would create a total of 34 full-time equivalent jobs, including 12 full-time management roles and up to 23 part-time roles, varying between eight and 35 hours per week.

Plans for the restaurant, which would operate 24 hours a day, include capacity for 92 diners and 15 parking spaces, with two disabled spaces and a cycle rack for four bikes.

The site where the new restaurant is hoped to be built is located on the western edge of the car park of the Wickes home improvements store, including a gravelled area, grass and trees.

If approved, the site would take up 355 square metres of hard brownfield land.

A planning report by agent DPP Planning, on behalf of Triple Jersey Limited, reads: "The new Burger King restaurant and drive-thru will deliver consumer, economic and environmental benefits."
