New Brooklyn Nets GM Sean Marks scores a $3-million home in Newport Beach

March 08--Professional basketball player turned front office executive Sean Marks, who joined the Brooklyn Nets front office as general manager this year, has made a move on the opposite coast, buying a home in Newport Beach for $3 million.

Completed last year, the two-story beach house in the Balboa Peninsula area is set up for indoor-outdoor living. Bi-folding glass doors open the home to a front patio with a firepit and built-in barbecue. Atop the home, a rooftop lounge takes in bay and ocean views.

Within the 3,000 square feet of interiors are a kitchen with a marble-topped island, open-plan living and dining rooms, four bedrooms and four bathrooms.

A well-appointed master suite has vaulted ceilings, a gas fireplace and sliding doors that open to a private balcony. The master bathroom has a glass-enclosed shower and a free-standing soaking tub.

A two-car garage sits off the rear of the home.

The house came to market in August for $3.495 million. It previously sold three years ago for $1.225 million, property records show.

Chris Brigandi of Arbor Real Estate was the listing agent. Steve High of Villa Real Estate repped the buyer.

Marks, 40, played for six franchises during a 12-year career in the NBA and joined the San Antonio Spurs' front office following his retirement in 2011. In February, he agreed to a four-year deal to become the general manager of the Nets, replacing the departed Billy King.
