New Broadmarsh car park opens with discount pricing for two weeks

Broadmarsh car park has reopened after a being redeveloped by Nottingham City Council, with discounted pricing for two weeks.

The car park in Collin Street, which has more than 1,200 spaces on offer, opened to the public for the first time on Monday, November 1.

The previous car park and bus station, at the same site, were demolished to make way for the new state-of-the-art development.

It will cost £4.60 to park your car in the new Broadmarsh Car Park for two hours, and £16 to park in there for 24 hours.

For the first two weeks though, it will cost £5 to park a car there all day to encourage motorists to use it before going back to full price.

To help motorists see which car parking spaces are free, a traffic light system will be used, with a red or green light indicating if spaces are occupied.

Karen Day, service manager for parking services at Nottingham City Council, said: "The green lights mean that there is a bay available, which means you can head straight to that bay.

"The red obviously shows if it is occupied. There is blue for people who have a blue badge, purple which means parent and child, and white for the EV charge bays - which we have 81 of."

It was recently revealed that costs of running the car park had increased by £1.8m as the previous budget, applied in 2018, was deemed "insufficient".

The bus station inside the car park is expected to open fully early in the new year.
