New Bristol Rovers signing Mark Little aims parting shot at Bolton boss Phil Parkinson

New Bristol Rovers arrival Mark Little has aimed a parting shot at his former manager.

The defender has signed for the Gas after his contract expired at cash-strapped Bolton Wanderers, who will join Rovers in League One following their relegation from the Championship.

Little joined the Trotters from Rovers' arch rivals Bristol City in 2017, but after making 30 appearances in his debut season at the club he found his game time dramatically reduced last season as he endured a frustrating campaign.

The 30-year-old right-back featured just four times in all competitions after falling out of favour with Bolton boss Phil Parkinson.

Having sealed a move away from the University of Bolton Stadium, Little has not been shy in displaying his displeasure at the scenario he found himself in Greater Manchester.

In a brief Twitter exchange, Little suggested he had no idea why Parkinson hadn't picked him.

In response to a tweet from Bolton football writer Marc Iles saying he was "baffled" he hadn't played more, Little responded: "Baffles me as well Marc."

The conversation will allay any fears Gasheads may have had over Little's quality or fitness, with the journalist and the player none the wiser as to why he hadn't played.

Speaking to Bristol Rovers' official website upon his arrival at the club, the defender said it had been a challenging year.

"It was a difficult season, I don't even want to talk about that now," he said. "It is way in the past for many different reasons, but you have to touch on it to just understand I am gagging to play football now.

"I feel the majority of my career has been quite successful and last year wasn't, let's put it that way, and I have got the opportunity to be successful here which is why I am here. "
