A New Brighton lifesaver was surprised at sea yesterday when her partner popped the question while they were out training in their lifeboat.
Tom and Emily, who are both volunteer crew at New Brighton RNLI, were out in the bay at the Wirral resort on Monday, April 26 completing a training exercise.
Once out on the water, volunteer crew member Tom McGinn popped the question to his partner Emily Craven on their fourth anniversary.
Family looked on from the shore to celebrate the couple's special moment as their fellow crew celebrated the happy news.

Tom and Emily, who met at a nearby bowling alley, have both been volunteering at the New Brighton Lifeboat station for three years and one year respectively.
A spokesperson for the RNLI said: "'Everyone at the station would like to pass on their congratulations to the newly engaged couple and wish them both every success and happiness in their new journey together."

Sharing the news on the station's Facebook page, members of the public were also keen to pass on their well wishes.
One person said: "That's a lovely story" while another added: "Congratulations Tom and Em. What a way to do it Tom! I hope you have a long and happy life together."
