New bowling alley and gaming venue reveals plans to open in Cardiff

A new bowling alley and gaming venue serving pizza, hot dogs, and cocktails could be coming to Cardiff. Plans have been submitted for Roxy Lanes, which has sites all across the UK, to take over the former JJB sports unit on Queen Street in the city centre.

Roxy Lanes offers "booze and ball games" with a wide-ranging cocktail menu as well as all kinds of games to play if you're not the biggest bowling fan, from American pool to beer pong. The bowling alley currently has seven sites all across the UK, including Leeds, Bristol, Manchester, Nottingham, Birmingham, Liverpool, and Sheffield.

If the planning application is successful, Cardiff would be the first Welsh site for the company. Roxy Lanes has also applied to sell alcohol at the prospective venue from 10am to 1.00am on Fridays and Saturdays, and 10am to 3.00am Sunday to Thursday.

Roxy's cocktail menu offers classics, from a Long Island ice tea and a Pina Colada to their signature cocktails, which include the Roxy Spritz, made up of Amaretto, prosecco, lemon, and grenadine, and the Perfect Game, which includes Beefeater pink gin, limoncello, and fresh strawberries.

Their food menu features hand-rolled Italian pizzas and 'Roxy dogs', which are served with fries and BBQ seasoning. If planning permission is approved, the retail unit on Queen Street will be completely transformed with new fittings and decorations across the ground floor and first floor.

The bowling alley first opened in Leeds in 2014 before moving to a bigger venue in February this year. It most recently opened its Sheffield venue, with its Bristol venue having opened in May this year. The bowling alley also has plans to open a venue in Edinburgh.
