New bottle shop to showcase drinks made by female producers

A Bristol bar is launching an off-licence that will showcase drinks made by female producers this weekend.

Bristol Spirit on Church Road, Redfield is reopening on Saturday, July 4 with a number of measures in place to protect staff and customers.

As well as welcoming customers for the first time since mid-March, the Redfield venue - which produces its own naturally-infused spirits - is launching a bottle shop celebrating some of the finest female brewers.

People will be able to pick up beer, cider, wine and low/no alcohol products to go, as well as Espensen Spirit's range of cocktail kits and gift sets.

Sam Espensen, co-founder of Bristol Spirit, said: "There's an increasing number of fantastic female owned or produced drinks businesses, and this is the perfect opportunity to open a specialist bottle shop showcasing the best of them."

The female owned, co-owned and produced drinks brands on offer will include Dunleavy Wines, Hiver Beer, Lost & Grounded, Arbor Ales, Thatchers and Espensen Spirit.

Annie Clements, co-founder of Lost & Grounded, said: "Navigating through these uncertain times has certainly been a challenge, and it's exciting that bars are able to begin to reopen doors in some form.

"We are proud to have our quality beers available at the fabulous Bristol Spirit, alongside some of the best women producers in our industry.

"We wish Sam and the team every success going forward and thank you for supporting independent business."

Bristol Spirit will continue to stock Bristol and South West drinks companies alongside running its new bottle shop.

Sam added that the bar is well suited to operating under social distancing guidelines.

"We are extremely well placed to operate safe physical distancing in Bristol Spirit," she said.

"Our outside space is ideal too, as we are in the middle of a residential area with plenty of room to queue safely and with free parking."

The bottle shop's opening hours will be Wednesday and Thursday from 12pm - 4pm, Fridays from 5pm - 7pm and Saturdays 12pm -4pm.

Customers can use click & collect from the bar's new online shop or visit the shop in person to peruse the selection of booze.
