New boss of Leek United's Derbyshire branch is proving age is just a number

When police officers and bank and building society managers seem to be getting younger, it is said that you're showing your age.  Well not necessarily.

Abigail Bowden is only 26 years old and has been appointed as Leek United Building Society's new Ashbourne branch manager.

Based at the Victoria Square office in the market town where she began her career, she has risen from customer advisor in April, 2018, progressing to the role of branch deputy manager in January this year and has now been promoted to manager.

Originally from Leek, Abi lives in the village of Brailsford with her partner and four-year-old son, Jacob.

Following several years in the recruitment and retail industry, Abi decided to transfer her skills to the financial sector.

She said: "Leek United has been a part of the local economy in Ashbourne for almost 40 years now and I’m looking forward to continuing to build on all the strong relationships we’ve established in that time.

"We have a terrific, loyal customer-base, many of whom we’re on first-name terms with – who place a huge value on the friendly, personal face-to-face service we offer. As a team we also take great pride in playing our part in the local community."
