New Borussia Dortmund boss has already addressed Jadon Sancho transfer rumours

Borussia Dortmund have a new boss in Edin Terzic after the German club axed Lucien Favre.

The Swiss tactician watched on as his side were humbled 5-1 against Stuttgart at Signal Iduna Park and the club's hierarchy have acted swiftly.

Terzic has been put in charge until the end of the season and will inevitably have to deal with speculation surrounding Jadon Sancho.

The forward has been heavily linked with a move to Manchester United.

Dortmund set the English club a summer deadline by which they had to complete the transfer, but it passed and Sancho remained in Germany.

United are heavily tipped to return for another swoop and Terzic has previously confessed that the rumour mill did affect Sancho.

“He’s a young player and is one of our most important players,” Terzic told Turkish TV channel TRT Spor in May.

"I have to say that the transfer speculations are affecting him.

"We have to support him in a positive way. I want all of our players to be happy."

Sancho has played 114 times for Dortmund and scored on 37 occasions.

He was one of United's top targets in the summer but the financial impact of the global pandemic meant they opted against paying Dortmund's valuation.

The uncertainty around the German club could play in United's hands however.

Favre's sacking had been discussed for several weeks after they endured a difficult end to last season.

"We are all grateful for Lucien Favre and his excellent work over the past two and a half years, where he and his team finished as runner-up twice," said Dortmund chief executive Hans-Joachim Watzke.

"Beyond any doubt, Lucien Favre is a great professional and person."
