Technically Borderlands 3’s weeks-long series of mini-events began last week, but it was just the Twitch extension thing, so this week is when things really kick off.
Today begins a week of bonus boss loot, which simply lists it as “bonus legendary loot” from all bosses. So not just specific drops, all drops, most likely.
That’s not the only thing that has happened in today’s patch, however, as there is a string of buffs for weapons incoming, some of which were negatively impacted by a previous projectile patch, some of which just needed buffs because they’re terrible. This is why you always save copies of guns with good anointments, because you never know when they’re just one buff away from being great.
Here is the list of buffed weapons
- Lead Sprinkler – Damage
- Reflux – Increased chance for projectiles to chain
- Brainstormer – Increased chance for projectiles to chain
- Hyperfocus – Damage
- Carrier – Damage
- Unseen Threat – Damage of homing bullets with critical hits
- Bearcat – Lowered ammo cost from 4 to 3
- Wagon Wheel – Damage
- Rowan’s Call – Accuracy
- Lucian’s Call – Reduced projectile spread, damage
- King/Queen’s Call – Damage
- Tigg’s Boom – Damage
- Complex Root – Decreased charge time
- Moonfire – Rate of Fire
- Fastball – Grenade Damage
- Mongol – Damage
- Cutsman – Damage
A lot of fascinating things in there. You can see weapons that have been terrible for ages like Lead Sprinker or Wagon Wheel finally getting buffs, but also I’m old enough to remember when King/Queen’s Call and Cutsman were at the top of the damage meta. Also, did something happen to Complex Root I’m not aware of where it actually needs a buff now? That thing was destroying last time I used it, and now DPS is being upped, it seems with a charge time reduction.
I think more grenades than just Fastball could use some damage buffs, so it’s a little weird to just see that one. That is kind of one of my low key favorites, however, so I’m happy to see it there.
Again, this is why you save everything because you never know what could be buffed into being the new meta at any given moment. In this case, we will have to let the pros do their testing in order to figure out which of these are actually strong now. Usually in batches of buffs like this, we see one or two weapons emerge as super strong while the rest are ignored. But we’ll see what happens with this selection soon enough, I suppose.
