New Bolton nightclub set to open with private pods where clubbers can play their own music

A brand new nightclub in Bolton will feature a room with soundproofed pods where clubbers play their own music and control the lighting. Meanwhile, the larger room at Element Fifty One, in Nelson Square, will be reserved for bigger events, such as the launch party hosted by former BBC Radio 1Xtra DJ Charlie Sloth.

The venue was most recently called Truth but has also been known as Ikonic, Oscar's, Doom, Trinity, After Dark, and Chic in the past 15 years. Owner Simon Kaden-Smith told the Manchester Evening News that he wants to do things a little differently from previous owners.

He said: "We've got Charlie Sloth at the opening night, then we've got various other artists booked in for every month moving forward. We want to do an 80s night with Martin Kemp, right across to more local brands like Back by Dope Demand, Maximes - they're the sort of brands I've been working with over the years so they'll all be on board with us.

"We don't just want to throw anyone in there. We've spent a good chunk of money on the refurb, sound and lighting, so we're not just coming in to do something that's been done before."

Simon, 42, has been running bars for around seven years and currently owns a cocktail bar in Burnley, called Pink. Explaining the innovative soundproof pods in Element Fifty One's smaller room, he added: "The club's going to be split into two parts - that room will be more bar-oriented.

"We've come up with an idea to build pods in the room so that will offer more of a personalised experience. They seat six, they've all got their own sound and light control so you can connect your phone. You get table service in that room as well.

"All the pods are soundproofed with glass doors. You'll be able to have your own experience with your friends in the pods but be able to step out into the bar environment as well.

"It's just something we're trialling. It's new and we'll just see how it goes."

Tickets for the club's launch night with Charlie Sloth, on April 1, are available to buy on Skiddle. For more information, visit Element Fifty One's official Facebook page.
