New Bolton McDonald's gets an official opening date and it's sooner than you think

A new 24-hour McDonald's drive-thru restaurant is set to open in Bolton next week.

The restaurant, based in Manchester Road, will become the seventh Maccies in the borough, joining Knowsley Street, China Gardens, Astley Bridge, Delph Hill, Middlebrook, and Westhoughton.

Last week, the famous golden arches sign was put up and McDonald's have now announced that it will officially open next Wednesday (March 31).

Local franchisee Dave Shaw, who owns and operates the new Bolton restaurant, said: "We are delighted to be opening this new restaurant and we’re so looking forward to getting to know more of the local community.

"We’d like to thank our hardworking crew and our new customers in advance for their support and patience as we continually adapt to the safest ways of working during the pandemic."

McDonald's have announced that 80 jobs will be created and the fast-food giant's career website is advertising crew member and maintenance person vacancies.

The restaurant has been built as latest part of plans to transform site of the former Norweb building.

Plans to build a petrol station, drive-thru restaurant, drive-thru cafe and a gym at Meridian Court were initially submitted three years ago by Euro Garages - owned by Blackburn-based billionaires the Issa brothers.

Since then, a Shell service station, Sainsbury's Local, and drive-thru Starbucks have already been built on the land.
