New board role for director at Tennent’s owner

Tennent's Lager owner C&C Group today named former media boss Vincent Crowley as its new senior independent non-executive director.

Crowley, who had served as chief executive of Independent News and Media, has been on the board of the Irish drinks group since 2016.

He takes over in the role from Richard Holroyd who last year announced he was stepping down from the group and leaves today.

Stewart Gilliland, chairman of C&C which is also behind the Bulmers and Magners brands, said: "We are very grateful to Richard for the contribution he has made to the group's long-term development."

Earlier this month C&C reported a strong performance from its key brands including Tennent’s last year. Total group net revenue was up by 3.2% to €1.57 billion (£1.38bn) while adjusted core earnings grew by 1.4% to €120 million.

Group chief executive Stephen Glancey said it had been  a "transformational" year for the company, and said that the introduction of minimum unit pricing in Scotland "demonstrated the value of strong local brands against price-led competitors".
