New Black Widow trailer sees Oscar nominees Scarlett Johansson and Florence Pugh team up

Marvel Entertainment has delivered a further look at the upcoming Black Widow movie.

The new footage shows off a dynamic team - or "family" - of fighters as Natasha Romanoff ( Scarlett Johansson ) is reunited with faces from her past.

Johansson was nominated for two Oscars yesterday (January 13), one for Best Actress for her turn in Netflix domestic drama Marriage Story, and one for Best Supporting Actress for her performance in Jojo Rabbit.

However, she's not the only actress nominated at the 2020 Oscars in the new Marvel film.

Rising British star Florence Pugh is competing against Johansson for Best Supporting Actress thanks to her turn in period drama Little Women.

In Black Widow, Pugh plays Natasha's surrogate sister Yelena Belova, a fellow assassin raised in the Black Widow programme.

The pair are also reunited with Red Guardian/Alexei Shostakov (Stranger Things' David Harbour ) and Melina Vostokoff (Oscar-winner Rachel Weisz ) as they must tackle a serious threat in the form of a villain who appears to mimic their fighting moves.

Marvel Comics fans will know this figure to be Taskmaster - but how will he connect to Romanoff's past here?

The film also stars O-T Fagbenle, Ray Winstone, William Hurt, and Robert Downey Jr. reprising his role as Tony Stark/Iron Man.

If you're wondering how both Romanoff and Stark are back then the answer to this is rather simple as the film is set between the events of Captain America: Civil War and Avengers: Infinity War.

Either way, it looks like Marvel is offering a real thrill-ride with this outing.

Black Widow is released in cinemas on May 1, 2020.
