New Birmingham home for Vietnamese Street Kitchen

A Birmingham restaurant is relocating to a new home in the city centre.

Family-run Vietnamese Street Kitchen was previously based in Brindleyplace but had been hit by the coronavirus restrictions and lack of footfall from office staff on the estate.

It closed the restaurant earlier this month and the team is now preparing to relaunch in a new home in the Bullring shopping centre which is due to open in early November.

The new venue will be set over two floors and have a cocktail bar and heated outdoor terrace in the unit previously occupied by Handmade Burger Co. which closed in January.

The move is expected to create 30 new jobs and the company is currently working on the fit out with the same team behind city restaurants Adams, Harborne Kitchen and Folium.

Its sister site at Resorts World in Solihull continues to operate as normal.

Operations manager Oliver Ngo said: "We're delighted to add to our restaurant portfolio, especially during 2020 - a difficult time for the hospitality industry and our fellow Brummies.

"The decision to move from Brindleyplace to Bullring makes sense in the current climate, with less people working in offices, but actually I've been looking to have a restaurant in Bullring for some time.

"It's exciting seeing it all coming together. We're assembling a great team back and front of house and the renovation work with Faber Designs is coming along nicely.

"We're sure this is going to be really special and nothing like what the Bullring has seen before.

"In the current climate, we hope people will support a local business trying to evolve and bring something innovative to the centre of the city.

"It's an exciting time for us and we look forward to welcoming guests old and new."
