New Belfast to Tenerife route announced by EasyJet

EasyJet has announced a new route from Belfast to Tenerife, with flights taking off from November 7.

Another four routes have also been announced, including from Edinburgh to Lanzarote and Fuerteventura and from Glasgow to Tenerife and Gran Canaria.

This follows the news that the airline will be putting more flights on sale to the Canary Islands in response to a surge in customer demand.

This includes routes to the islands from Belfast, and also from London Gatwick, London Luton, Bristol, Manchester, Liverpool, Edinburgh and Glasgow.

This following the UK government announcement that they have been added to the list of quarantine exempt destinations.

Over 180,000 additional seats to the Canary Islands will now be available up to the end of March 2021, with fares from £22.99.

The airline has also added more seats to previously sold out dates for October Half Term, meaning families now have more opportunity to enjoy a last minute getaway in the sun.

All easyJet customers can change their flights to a later date without a change fee up to 14 days ahead of departure.

Ali Gayward, UK Country Manager, easyJet said: “We welcome the announcement from the UK government that the Canary Islands have been added to the list of quarantine exempt countries for British travellers.

“This will mean many of our customers will be able to take a winter sun break to these popular islands or reschedule a holiday that they’ve been unable to take this summer as a result of the last minute changes to quarantine restrictions.

“Since the government’s announcement last night we’ve already seen a surge of demand for flights and holidays to the Canary Islands – we’ve seen a 500% increase day on day on searches – so we know that there is customer demand, they want to travel and this demonstrates they will do so when travel restrictions are relaxed.

“We continue to encourage the Government to take a lead in moving to testing, as well as the approval of new testing technologies, as soon as possible as effective testing is crucial to get people flying again.”
