A brand new BBC Four production has started filming at Glasgow gastro pub The Duke's Umbrella with legendary actor Peter Mullan and Derry Girl's Lisa McGee.
The Duke’s Umbrella is hosting filming for the new series currently titled 'Skint' featuring a series of monologues addressing poverty.
Derry Girls writer and creator Lisa McGee, and award-winning actor, writer, director and filmmaker Peter Mullan are the creative directors for 'Skint' where eight characters “demonstrate imagination, grit, humour and courage when faced with some of the bleakest of circumstances”.
The cast includes Derry Girls star Saoirse-Monica Jackson who is in Glasgow filming for the episode that is being directed by Scottish theatre director, playwright, actor and musician Cora Bisset.
Saorise and Lisa aren't the only Derry Girls stars who have crossed the pond to Glasgow for filming as Jamie-Lee O'Donnell shot scenes for new Channel 4 prison drama Screw here over the summer.
Glasgow has become a hot spot for filming as we have seen huge blockbusters like The Batman, Indiana Jones and soon to be more take hold of our city.
The Duke’s Umbrella general manager, Craig McKay said: “Glasgow’s proving popular for filming locations.
“We’ve already had the team behind ITV crime thriller Karen Pirie join us here at The Duke’s Umbrella and we’ve had enquiries from a number of production facilities as the city welcomes more and more big-budget productions.
“We’re chuffed to be able to host them and enjoy the hospitality, Duke’s style.”
The Duke’s Umbrella is located on Argyle Street.
