New bars open in Bristol city centre with outdoor seating perfect for summer

Two massive pop-up bars have opened in Bristol city centre, giving shoppers more choice when it comes to enjoying a drink or two in between visiting their favourite stores.

The Bloom Bar has launched in Quakers Friars, next to Harvey Nichols, while Festival City Bar has opened in the Broadmead Podium, where the Christmas Market is usually held.

Both venues are headed up by Clarke Events, the company which operates Liverpool Christmas Market, and will be open until September.

Festival City Bar opened on Friday (July 2) a week after the Bloom Bar, which was launched to coincide with the installation of the big screen showing Wimbledon matches.

"Both bars have been really popular since opening," said Paige Burrows of Clarke Events.

"We've found the Bloom Bar has been a hit with the ladies in particular and this bar has been attracting more families.

"Festival City Bar is really lively and it's been popular for pre-drinks before the footy. Both bars have a team of bubbly staff and both are serving great cocktails."

Festival City Bar has a number of food stalls that offer table service, including fish and chips, Greek wraps and ice cream.

Drinks served include beers such as Coors Light and Birra Moretti, ciders including Thatchers and Strongbow, a selection of wines, cocktails and a wide range of spirits.

Seating is spread across two floors with both covered and uncovered options, and there are bars both upstairs and downstairs.

At the Bloom Bar, seating options include benches covered in flowers and cabins that groups of friends can book out.

Like the Broadmead venue, it serves a broad range of drinks including beers, ciders, Pimm’s, prosecco, spirits, wine and soft drinks.

Festival City Bar is open from 11am until 8pm between Monday and Thursday, from 11am until 9.30pm on Friday and Saturday, and from 11am until 6pm on Sunday.

Bloom Bar is open between 11am and 7pm Monday to Thursday, 11am and 8pm on Friday and Saturday, and 11am to 6pm on Sunday.
