The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) and its network partners will adopt 10 new measures to help reduce PM2.5 in the city for 2026.
The Central Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Command Centre held a meeting on next year's pollution control in the capital, which led to the approval of the measures.
Among them is the designation of the Low Emission Zone (LEZ), which will be expanded to cover all of Bangkok's 50 districts, and a Green List Plus project to encourage regular motor oil and air filter replacement, targeting 500,000 vehicles.
The BMA is adjusting its limit on black smoke exhaust control, from previously 30% to 20% which has already been in effect since Nov 1.
The administration is also set to tighten pollution-inspection measures, particularly at construction sites.
The measures also included regular inspections of 256 factories and data collection on organic mass burning.
The BMA is also set to expand its dust-free classroom measures after implementing them in 971 classrooms (49% of the target) and 115 nurseries (44% of the target) last year. Next year, 1,966 classrooms and 262 nurseries are expected to be covered.
The administration plans to expand its work-from-home measures to cover 300,000 workers next year. About 100,000 have joined the project out of the targeted 200,000 people this year.
