New Asian restaurant announces opening date for north Leeds suburb

A brand new Asian restaurant is coming to Chapel Allerton, with locals told to expect a 'casual, family atmosphere' when it opens later this month.

Dapur Malaysia has put signs up on Stainbeck Lane to announce that it will soon be moving into the premises where Buca di Pizza used to be, opposite The Mustard Pot.

The owners are setting up their very first restaurant, having served up authentic Malaysian dishes from a street food truck over the past four years. 45-year-old owner Valerie Kolat, from Huddersfield, expects to open the doors to Dapur Malaysia by the end of July.

She also told LeedsLive that she chose Chapel Allerton due to its burgeoning reputation for independent businesses and a knowledgeable foodie crowd.

"Malaysian food isn't as well recognised as Thai or Chinese food, but we will be serving the kind of food that you'll want to eat everyday," she said.

"It's a good spot for us and hopefully lots of people will recognise the dishes that we'll be serving. It will be a casual family atmosphere and nice and friendly."
