New Asda Rewards app launching in Leeds stores that will pay you to shop

Asda is rolling out a new rewards app that will pay customers for completing 'shopping missions' at eight Yorkshire stores - including two in Leeds.

The supermarket giant is piloting the Asda Rewards loyalty app in West Yorkshire after successfully testing it on staff.

Shoppers can download the app for free to start building cash rewards in-store.

There are two main ways to add money to your cash pot - by buying a 'star product' or completing personalised in-app shopping missions, the Mirror reports

For example, Asda said shoppers can buy five fruit and veg items to unlock their “5 a day badge” and be rewarded £1 into their cashpot.

Another reward could see customers spend £15 on pet products to get £3 back.

Asda says there will be hundreds of “star products” that can be purchased to build up money on the app and they'll be labelled as such in stores.

The app will tell you which qualifying products you need to buy.

Shoppers have to scan the app at the checkout to start building cash rewards that they can later spend in-store.

In addition, they can browse the app to see personalised shopping missions and rewards that help build their cash pot.

The scheme is being piloted in eight stores in the region and eight in the West Midlands as part of a “test and learn” phase.

Asda said it is still in the test phase of its new loyalty initiative, with no rollouts to further stores announced yet.

Matt Mclellan, vice president of customer proposition and planning, said: “We know our customers want the best possible value when shopping with us, especially as household budgets become stretched.

"Our Asda Rewards trial rewards our loyal customers with pounds not points for buying the products they love. We hope that our customers will enjoy building up their cash pot during the trial and spending it on whatever they like in-store – or saving it for the all-important Christmas shop.”
