New Arsenal signing Kieran Tierney backed to play for Barcelona or PSG

New Arsenal signing Kieran Tierney has been backed to earn a move to Barcelona or Paris Saint-Germain should he impress at the Emirates Stadium.

The left-back completed a deadline-day move from Celtic last week after a summer-long pursuit by the Gunners ended in a deal worth £25million.

Tierney is now the most expensive Scottish player of all time and former team-mate Scott Brown feels the sky is the limit for the young defender.

"You don't know what could happen," he told the Herald. "He could have a fantastic couple of seasons and end up at Barcelona or PSG or wherever."

Tierney faced criticism for a section of Celtic fans for making the move to Arsenal, negativity which Brown struggles to understand.

“There are pictures on the wall all over the club of players who have left and everyone would wish them all the best,” he said. “They can come back as well, that’s what this cub is all about.

“I see Ajax bringing players through and selling them on - and they have a party for them leaving. We try and criticise. It’s a different level.

“We wish him all the best. We just concentrate on now and Boli (Bolingoli, new left-back) has to push on and try to get to the levels that Kieran did.”
