Mikel Arteta has shared what he learned from three years as Pep Guardiola's assistant manager at Manchester City, following his exit from the club to return to Arsenal.

The Gunners have confirmed the capture of their former midfielder on a three-and-a-half-year deal, bringing an end to their search to find a successor to Unai Emery.

Arteta , has been with City since his retirement from football in 2016 and has played a major role behind the scenes in the Blues' recent success.

The Spaniard, who spent the last five years of his playing career with Arsenal and captained the club, has not managed previously and will face numerous challenges at the Emirates Stadium.

However, his vast experience under Guardiola has made an impression upon the 37-year-old and he shared what he learnt during his time under his guidance.

"You have to be ruthless, consistent and fit every day the culture of the club to create a winning mentality. Every day is important, every act is important," he said in his first press conference.

"His work rate is incredible. For me the secret is that the players and staff have to believe what you’re trying to deliver."
