New Arsenal Adidas kits: 'Leaked' home and third shirts, release date, Onana transfer theory

It's safe to say Arsenal's return to Adidas has been a success.

In the summer of 2019 and after two decades with Nike and Puma, the north London outfit signed a £300million deal with German manufacturers Adidas to produce their home, away and third kits for the next three years.

Overall, Adidas' offerings since the partnership began have generally been a hit with fans as last season's home kit, the bruised banana away jersey from the 2019/20 campaign, and a couple of third shirts were all greatly received by the majority.

As a result, expectations have been heightened over what's in store for the next campaign.

And whilst Arsenal have already officially released their new away kit ahead of the 2021/22 season, the home and third kits have been 'leaked' online.

With that said, here's everything we know about the new Arsenal Adidas kits.

Home kit

As per FootyHeadlines, Arsenal's 2021/22 home shirt will have a fresh look. It's mainly red ('scarlet') with white sleeves and side panels.

And for the first time since Adidas' return to the club, the 3 Stripes are navy.

Inside the collar is the logo which features the Arsenal for Everyone initiative.

'Arsenal for Everyone' was launched in 2008 to promote diversity.

Release date

According to @ArsenalShirt on Twitter, the new Arsenal home kit will officially be released on July 13 - the date of the Gunners' first pre-season fixture against Hibernian.

Furthermore, a global release of the kit is for a full week later.

Onana transfer theory

Arsenal supporters have an interesting transfer theory in regards to 'leaked' images of the 2021/22 home kit.

As the design is slightly different to what we've seen in the past, the image of the 'leaked' jersey shows white going down the hip section - very similar to what we see Ajax wear usually.

So, with the Gunners interested in signing Andre Onana from the Dutch giants this summer, the north London club's supporters have come up with a tongue-in-cheek theory about the supposed new shirt.

However, football.london understands no bid has been made for the Cameroon international yet despite the reduction of his ban for doping.

With that said, Arsenal could find themselves in the market for two goalkeepers this summer if Bernd Leno ends up leaving.

Third kit

Details of the third kit that Arsenal could wear next season first emerged back in March as FootyHeadlines revealed it would remain blue and will have a look inspired by the 1990s.

Judging by the 'leaked' images the report was spot on.

If this 'leak' turns out to be accurate then this will be the third kit that any new signing could wear next season as Arsenal are expected to be busy in the summer transfer window. Mikel Arteta and technical director Edu are looking to continue their overhaul of the first-team squad at the Emirates Stadium.
