New allotments hailed as 'oasis of tranquility' in the heart of Neilstown

New allotments that have recently opened in Neilstown have been hailed as an "oasis of tranquility" in the heart of the community.

The raised allotments recently opened at the Collinstown Sports Complex and are available to rent from the Dublin Education and Training Board.

Local councillor Mark Ward said the allotments were a welcome addition to the area.

The current Mayor of South Dublin said: "I was really happy to see 15 raised bed allotments available to the Community at low prices.

"The allotments are available for €50 per year with a reduced rate of €25 per year for unemployed or OAPs.

"The allotments are located in Collinstown Sports Complex and are available to community groups and individuals from the community.

“There are tea and coffee facilities available in the Sports Centre."

There are currently 15 allotments available with the potential for more if demand increases.

Councillor Ward added: "I loved the time I spent there this week and these allotments have the potential to be an oasis of tranquillity in the heart of Neilstown."
