New All Blacks boss set to ask Scarlets head coach Brad Mooar to be part of set-up — reports

The Scarlets’ Brad Mooar is being linked to a role in the new All Blacks coaching set-up under Ian Foster.

Foster has been appointed successor to Steve Hansen as New Zealand head coach, and there's speculation that he could call on Mooar to be part of his team of assistants along with former Swansea RFC coach John Plumtree.

New Zealand outlet 1 News report that Hurricanes coach Plumtree, Mooar and scrum coach Greg Feek are likely to join Foster, as well as Scott McLeod and David Hill, who are part of the current team. The New Zealand Herald have also reported the suggestion.

The Scarlets will presumably not want to see Mooar go anywhere.

He only joined in the summer, as successor to Wayne Pivac, but in the short time he has been in west Wales the charismatic former lawyer has made a favourable impression.

The Scarlets have won two out of three European games and are the best-performing region in the Guinness PRO14, with five wins from seven games.

Mooar has backed his players on the pitch while also being prepared to give youth a fling, while he has also been praised for his engagement with supporters .

He remains highly regarded in New Zealand, where he was part of the hugely successful Crusaders set-up before heading for Wales.
