Aldi is planning to open 20 stores across Scotland, including one in Edinburgh.
This new batch of stores would increase the number of Aldi locations in Scotland from 96 to well over 100.
Some of the locations currently being scouted for a huge new store are Edinburgh, Peebles, and Stonehaven.
The initial round of construction will see six new stores open up in Scotland this year.
The Edinburgh store will be located in Hermiston Gait, joining the six other locations across the country.
The selected site would need to be around 1.5 acres to accommodate a 20,000 square foot store and 100 parking spaces.

The developers are also looking for a well-connected spot, on a prominent main road with good visibility and easy access.
These new Scottish Aldi stores are the result of an initial investment of £20 million in this year alone, dedicated to meeting customer demand throughout the country.

“We have been investing in Britain for more than 30 years now," said Ciaran Aldridge, National Property Director at Aldi UK, in a statement. "But we know that there are still areas that either do not have an Aldi at all, or that need another store to meet customer demand.
“Shoppers are increasingly looking to get unbeatable prices on their weekly shop without compromising on quality. That’s why, more so than ever, we’re keen to explore all opportunities to open new stores across the country.”
Even more areas across the UK are likely to get a new Aldi location as well, with plans to open one new store per week on average.
On top of that, Aldi is also dedicating funds to upgrade stores in Rutherglen, Strathaven, Forfar, and Inverness.
Aldi is currently the fourth biggest volume retailer in Scotland and the fifth biggest supermarket chain in the UK.
The retailer is known to source and supply lots of Scottish produce, including 100% Scotch Lamb PGI, 96% Scotch Beef PGI, 88% Scottish Chicken, and 100% Specially Selected Pork, according to the four most recent NFU Scotland 'shelf watch' surveys.
That's more locally-sourced options than any other supermarket in Scotland, giving consumers plenty of options for Scottish -origin foods.
Aldi already has 900 stores across the UK, employing 38,000 people in total.
