New 'airship' taking people 400ft above nostalgic seaside town with views of Liverpool and beyond

A huge new attraction that will take visitors 400ft above the ground is set to launch next month, offering panoramic beachfront views.

The 23rd project from adventure giant Zip World, Skyflyer is a new family-friendly excursion based at its Rhyl site in North Wales. The blimp-style airship will fly up to 400ft, boasting 360 degree views as far as Liverpool.

The UK exclusive venture joins Zip World's growing list of exciting activities, which includes the world's fastest zip line, and the world's first cavern-style underground adventure golf course.

Skyflyer, which is also dog-friendly, is a fully accessible attraction specifically designed to welcome all. It features wheelchair access and other disability support equipment.

Launching to the public from March 11, Skyflyer will be based at the Zip World Rhyl site along the beachfront. Visitors will be elevated 400ft in the air to drink in panoramic views of the stunning north Wales coast, as well as Liverpool's iconic skyline, the Isle of Man, and beyond. Skyflyer has been designed for solo travellers, couples and families alike, and will be available for private hire, too.

Zip World founder and president Sean Taylor said: "We're proud to be bringing this sight-seeing adventure to the ever-growing town of Rhyl. The North Wales coastline boasts some of the best views in the country and we're looking forward to welcoming locals and visitors alike to soak up the scenery.

"This year marks our 10 year anniversary and we're excited to be kicking it off with the launch of Skyflyer which offers an unforgettable experience for people of all ages and abilities."

Jamie Groves, managing director of Denbighshire Leisure Ltd, said: "Following the success of all the company investments in Rhyl, we are thrilled to be working in partnership with such a highly regarded brand as Zip World to deliver this new attraction and hospitality offer next door to the Rhyl Pavilion.

"This is a fantastic new partnership and a great endorsement for the strength of the brands working together. Attracting a brand such as Zip World truly demonstrates Rhyl is the up-and-coming destination, and the place to invest.

"Reaching from Moel Famau, to the Great Orme in Llandudno, all the way to Liverpool and Ireland on a clear day, this experience is one not to be missed for couples, families, day-trippers and holidaymakers. We cannot wait for visitors to experience Skyflyer, taking off from Rhyl this spring.

"With plenty of parking nearby, and a plethora of shops, and entertainment; and of course, visitors will have the added opportunity of trying the flagship restaurant 1891."

Tickets are now on sale via the Zip World website. Prices start at £20, and children under three years old go free - though proof of age is required on check-in. For more information, click here.
